Sabatur Pro Audio Interview

By Interviewer at 01/26/09 08:56

Name of your website?

Sabatur Pro Audio

Your name?

Richard Turcotte

Your Location (city, etc)

Laconia

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Sabatur Pro Audio offers quality Pro Audio Equipment and Musical Instruments at an affordable price. Products from such lines as Taye Drums, Krank Amps, Alvarez Guitars, Soundcraft Mixers, and many more.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I am a Musician, and as a musician I wanted to be able to offer other musicians the equipment they need at an affordable price

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2003. My first website was for my band Sabatur.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name for the website was created using the same name as my band. I thought this would keep a nice consistency.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My website offers all the information and tools needed for the customer to decide and complete the order. Anywhere from contacting me (personally) directly to completing the order through our website itself.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to make Sabatur Pro Audio a "common" name when a musician is thinking about purchasing a peice of equipment. I want to be the first one he think of when he is ready!

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As of right now, the investing over powers the success. But that is because we are taking every last penny made, and more, and reinvesting it into Sabatur Pro Audio in order to have a complete one stop place for all musicians.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If I had an unlimited budget for development, I would invest into new products and create our own brand. Offering my customers high quality gear at much cheaper prices.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We would do whatever it took to keep up with all demands. If that means adding more staff then so be it. We would not jeopardize the relationship with our customers by losing our customer service.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

It is absolutely amazing how many poor people are victims to identity theft. We have had a few orders that appeared to be good and then found out later that they were in fact fraudulent charges. Now, as the seller, we are responsible for this so we end up "Eating" the loss. We have taken numerous steps to makes sure we are very secure with the orders. If we need to verify with the credit card agency about a transaction that is what we will do.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Obviously the biggest challenge has been the economy.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth has been very successful but also simple things like writing blogs about products have been very successful for us.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Well.. it is definitely a lot of work! Maintaining, adding, securing, changing content, etc....

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

So far this particular site has been 1 year. And I will keep running as long as I can!

What is your website address?
