Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website is for guitarists and singer who like to practice there music skills to great backing tracks, it covers a wide spectrum of music choice from rock tracks to soul and country music.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I play bass guitar myself and found it a great advantage to play along with backing tracks, so it inspired me to start a website to provide a place for guitarists to access backing tracks easily.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Funky Tiger Backing Tracks was launched in December 2007 and is in fact my first website and i have enjoyed every minuet of building it and watch it develop.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Funky Tiger just came into my head and it stuck.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I think it is different from other sites because it is a basic layout, tracks are easy to find and download.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My overall goal is to provide a great place for backing tracks as the majority are free downloads i don't think it will make me rich overnight, but donations would be gratefully recieved lol !
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I love music so time and money is a pleasure to give up to create a worthwhile website.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Probably a faster computer would help lol
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I would love the challenge and would enjoy the feedback
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
mainly copyright issues and being able to identify what tracks would benefit most musicians.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning how to build a website
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Probably linking to great sites and trying to get high in the search engine rankings.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Takes up alot more time than i thought but well worth it
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Early days only sinse last year but hopefully keep it going indefinatly
Did you need others to help you with building the website
I had some very special a valued friends help me with the website especially my good friend mark who recorded all the music for my web pages What a Star !!
