Alliance4life.com Interview

By Interviewer at 03/13/08 16:46

Name of your website?

Alliance4life.com

Your name?

Randy Moo

Your Location (city, etc)

Portmore, Jamaica

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Alliance4life.com or alliancefilife.com, is a fan based website made for Jamaican music group The Alliance, led by bounty Killer. Members include Assainlant,Bad Cash, Bling Dawg, Bounty Killer,Busy Signal, Bugle,Einstein, Elephant Man, Flexx, Foota Hype, Mavado and Wayne Marshal. Alliance is not a tipical group, since all members have a solo career before they enter The Alliance. What alliance does is provide a venue where talented upcoming artist get a chance to launch their career. Lead member Bounty Killer has made a career out of mentoring young artists and using his status in dancehall to assure them success. On the website members can add videos, news, events, photos and lyrics relating to Alliance members. Everything is free of cost.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have been a Bounty Killer fan for as long as I can remember listening to dancehall music. And I admire his dedication to giving young talent a break into the fruits of the music industry, which can be very hard since not many people like to share the wealth of fame or fortune in dancehall. Realizing internet presence is an easy and effective way of advertising i decided to play around with website making, and that was the birth of alliance4life.com.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Alliance4life.com was launch in october 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Alliance fi life is a common term used by alliance members and fans alike, so coming up with the name was a no thought process. alliancefilife.com or alliance4life.com

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

There are no similar offerings, this is the first Jamaican fan based website, where users get to control the content.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to connect with all the artist to get the site updated on what is happening with them. I do not plan on selling it. I intend on learning more about web design and improving the website as well as content. I intend to try a few ventures, such as artist related clothing, album sales etc hopefully those work out.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have not made any money from the website,it wasn't a venture where my goal was to make money, so I'm good with that. The website has had 96000 + hits since November 2007 and I like how it is growing. I consider my time making the site well spent, especially since I haven't paid for ads.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would hire some professional graphic designers and programmers to create exactly what I want. Then buy ads like crazy and make the site known. Then I would pay each of the artist for a Video shout out to the site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I would have to find a way to keep up.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Not many, I just hope to start making enough money to pay for the site.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Lack of Money

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Adding site to youtube videos. i call it Guerrilla advertising, go in to forums and post banners, leaving comments on youtube mentioning the site, adding links on my myspace account. Adding the site name to youtube videos i believe is the most successful method.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't know what to expect so I'm happy with its progress.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running the site for 6 months and I intend to run it for as long as possible.

Would you like to be contacted by people interested in helping your site grow?

Yes my email is jrmoo@yahoo.com or you can visit alliance4lfie.com and send a message to Blaze.

What is your website address?

Alliance4life.com
