Please give us a short summary of your website?
This is a website to showcase 2 CDs that I have created on my own. I am currently putting together a band to play live shows with these 2 CDs. We still need a guitar player. I love music and want to give my CDs away at no charge.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have played in multiple bands and have tried to get somewhere with music. This time I am doing it on my own because I know I have the motivation and everything else I need to make a name for myself. The website is a tool for this.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I think the first website I ever launched was a profile about myself back in grade 10... I can't remember what it was.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I named it after my band... it was easy.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Well for one, not many bands offer free CDs. I just want people around the world to hear my music and possibly come to some live shows in the future, or hey, buy a shirt.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal is to have my music heard everywhere and enjoyed by many. I would like to make enough of a profit to make a living off of solely music. Right now I work a couple other jobs as well.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Time and Money are very scarce at the moment. I work 9 hours a day and don't have much time for my music, I'm trying to make a shift.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
My site wouldn't change as much as my effort into my music. My website would go through some small changes though. I would like to have the time and money to make it more interactive.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Depends... Right now I am only offering some free CDs of my band. I can easily keep up with that. I have a forum that pretty much manages itself so ya... it wouldn't be a problem. It would be a matter of success.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
With the website, none really. Creating a band to play my music though... every cost and headache you can think of.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Same as the last question. The challenge hasn't been the website, it has been everything else that the website stands for.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Just posting on forums and word of mouth. Advertising that I pay for hasn't worked nearly as well, I guess that's just what the underground music scene is like.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't... I have ran multiple websites, it has been a smooth, easy project.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up for just over 5 months... It has been through a few huge facelifts though.
