Name of your website?davidsearle.com
Your name?
David Searle
Your Location (city, etc)
Gran Canaria - Primarily, the South
Please give us a short summary of your website?
A comprehensive collection of free songs to download, CD's to be purchased, photos from various performances, video clips from The London Palladium, TV appearances, Pride - Maspalomas, Resume, show listings, contact form, guestbook etc
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Many people enquired wether or not I had one, as they'd like to buy CD's online, also to find out where I would be singing before they arrive for thier holidays in Gran Canaria etc
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My website first went live in 2002, but has grown considerably since living in Gran Canaria.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It had to be David Searle .com, as it was the most logical thing for people to search for, therefore made it easier to find
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Because I am unique! You can't get ME from anywhere else!!!!
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To maximise my earning potential.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Very good! I do all the work on the webiste myself, so no expense there. and as for singing, I've spent a fortune on getting the best backing tracks, but of course, once I have them, each successive time they are used, they become better value for money
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
More advertising!! Also gettingin touch with movie agents (someone always sings the theme songs for movies) - why not me!!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Of course. I'd choose what every would give me the best returns on my investment of time.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I get frustrated with agents who are only interested in 'tribute bands', Why the heck should I try to be someone else, and stick to one kind of music. When at present I have over 650 songs in my repertior, ranging from rock and roll, to ballads, to pop, to Show Songs, to Opera. There's no way I want to limit myself in what I sing, nor what my audiences can listen to!
What has been your biggest challenge?
The first opening night at the London Palladium - I was a nervous wreck!
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I seem to get quite a high profile, and come up more than not on the first page of 'google', don't know why, and have done nothing in particular to schieve this
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
As I have designed it myself (having never done one before), each time I want to add a feature, I have had to learn from scratch, so it's always a challenge.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since 2002, and It'll going till I can no loonger sing - and probably still afterwards in order to maintain online sales
Do you want to be famous
