Sentell pickups Interview

By Interviewer at 07/22/10 14:15

Name of your website?

Sentell pickups

Your name?

Chris Sentell

Your Location (city, etc)

Sacramento

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We build custom electric guitar pickups and repair/rewind broken guitar pickups.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To advertise for our business. I prefer to build my own website so I have more control of it and it is fun learning new skills.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 2000 and it was for this same business.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is the name of our company. Sentell is my last name.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We are a small company and get to know our customers and what they want and are always willing to work with people to help them achieve the right sound for their instruments.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We plan to keep this business for income.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Right now we put a lot more time into developing new products and it is hard to get people to try something new but this is what I love doing so that is my success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would advertise more in magazines as people tend to keep them for a long time.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Advertising is our biggest expense.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting through to the correct customers, the guitar players is our biggest challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our website and word of mouth from our customers.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is a lot more work trying to get it recognized by search engines than I thought it would be.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I've been running my site for 10yrs and will continue to do so until I get rich and famous and need help from a professional.

What is your website address?

Sentell pickups
