Your name?

Your Location (city, etc)
Chicago, North Side
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Rocknroll Vintage offers vintage and used guitars in Chicago. Our web site also has loads of vintage guitar photos, guitar tips, guitar repair information and of course great vintage guitars for sale.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We are musicians and love great looking well played guitars. Our business was founded by musicians who appreciate great guitars and who like to share their knowledge about guitars.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our site launched in 2004 and has become a popluar destination for guitar players and collectors.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We love vintage guitars and Rock and Roll from the 60's through the 80's so Rocknrollvintage.com was born.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We have more information on vintage guitars, better guitar photos a way better attitude! We try not to emulate guitar superstores and like to provide a relaxed enviroment where visitors can browse at their leisure.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We are in this for the long haul and will continue to improve our web site and provide new content for our visitors.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
You get out what you put in. Our vintage guitar web site has been a lot of work but it is also vital to our business.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We wouldn't change anything but would probably add more flash video and more photos and well as use pay per click advertising.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We are in a big city and hiring more people to take calls and orders would not be an issue. If our host could not handle the web traffic we would have to find another host. There are a lot of good hosting services out there.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Maintaining the site can be expensive. Inventory is always turning over so the site is never really up to date but we do our best to update products daily.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Trying to keep up with our new new inventory and making sure we get it on the web site as soon as we get it in the shop.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Really word of mouth. If people like what the see they tell others. We have satisified customers world wide so we get a lot of referral business.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It took more effort than expected. We now have a photo studio to take our photos.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We will keep our web site as long as we have a successful vintage guitar shop in Chicago.
What has surprised you about your web site ?
We are constantly surprised about how many people find our repair shop on the web and mail in their guitars for repairs.
